Elisabetta Canalis was dismissed from the TV dance competition Tuesday, despite her third-place finish on Monday's episode.
She and professional partner Val Chmerkovskiy earned 21 points out of 30 for their quickstep routine — a six point improvement over their debut dance. But fans failed to keep the couple in the competition.
"For me, it was a gift every day staying here. It was a great adventure," Canalis said after learning her fate. "I want to thank everybody because they made me come here. Thanks to the public and to everybody who voted for us. Now I am really nervous, but thank you anyway. It was a great experience."

In a scene that was reminiscent of the shopping frenzy that typically comes on the day after Thanksgiving, Target's website crashed several times throughout the day and more than a hundred shoppers lined up at many of its stores early in the morning on Tuesday for a sale of limited offerings of its Missoni for Target collection of bikes, luggage, clothes and housewares.
The 400-piece line made by the Italian luxury knitwear designer Missoni exclusively for the cheap chic retailer features its trademark zigzag patterns for between $2.99 for stationary and $599.99 for patio furniture — a fraction of the price of the designer's real duds that can go for $595 to $1,500.
"This was Missoni mayhem," said Joshua Thomas, a Target spokesman. "This is unprecedented."

SAO PAULO - Newly crowned Miss Universe Leila Lopes wants to help her native Angola further escape a history of war and impoverishment and said she plans to focus on combating HIV around the globe.
Speaking in a timid voice early Tuesday shortly after taking the crown in South America's largest city, the 25-year-old Lopes said that "as Miss Angola I've already done a lot to help my people."
"I've worked with various social causes. I work with poor kids, I work in the fight against HIV. I work to protect the elderly and I have to do everything that my country needs," she said. "I think now as Miss Universe I will be able to do much more."
Responding to questions, Lopes said that she has never had cosmetic surgery of any kind and that her three tips for beauty were to get a lot of sleep, use sunblock even when it's not sunny and to drink lots of water. She said her smile was her best weapon in the competition.
Asked about racism in light of the fact that she's one of the few blacks ever crowned Miss Universe, Lopes said that "any racist needs to seek help."

The financial turmoil gripping the world has had little effect on wealth in China, where an ongoing economic boom keeps creating new US dollar billionaires, Forbes magazine said Thursday.
Releasing its annual list of China's richest people, Forbes said the world's second largest economy had a total of 146 billionaires this year -- up 14 percent from 2010, and second only to the United States that has 413.
Like a similar list released Wednesday by the China-based Hurun report -- which publishes luxury magazines and runs a research institute -- Forbes crowned machinery tycoon Liang Wengen the nation's richest man.
"Even though the stock market is going down, the wealth of the most successful people in China is going up," Russell Flannery, Forbes senior editor and Shanghai bureau chief, told reporters.
He pointed to a domestic building spree, higher demand for consumer goods and an economic boom as driving the increase in wealth in China, which posted growth of 9.6 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2011.

A monster 21-foot (6.4-metre) saltwater crocodile, believed to be the biggest ever captured, has been trapped in the southern Philippines after a spate of fatal attacks, officials said Tuesday.
The 1,075-kilogramme (2,370-pound) male is suspected of eating a farmer who went missing in July in the town of Bunawan, and of killing a 12-year-old girl whose head was bitten off two years ago, crocodile hunter Rollie Sumiller said.
The hunter examined the crocodile's stomach contents by forcing it to vomit after it was captured Saturday, but there was no trace of human remains or of several water buffaloes also reported missing by locals.
"The community was relieved," Sumiller said of the capture, but added: "We're not really sure if this is the man-eater, because there have been other sightings of other crocodiles in the area."
